Wing leadership recognized six airmen as top performers during the 178th Wing Annual Outstanding Airmen of the Year award ceremony, December 2, 2023.

Airmen are nominated for OAY based on their job performance in primary duty, leadership, followership and the whole airman concept. Nominations must include specific facts, achievements, and examples showing the individuals are exceptional.

“It is extremely challenging because we have so many great airmen at the wing,” said Melton. “I think at the foundational level, being a good human and a good airman; and then as we elevate a bit more it’s about what are you doing to develop self, develop others, and mentor others as well.”

The 178th Wing Commander Col. Kent Kazmier and 178th Wing Chief Master Sgt. Jacquita Melton presented each winner in their respective category with an award for their superior performance.
Winners include:

Airman 1st Class Chiasha R. Jordan, 178th Communications Squadron was selected as the Honor Guard member of the Year.

Master Sgt. Bryon Ingram, 127th Intelligence Squadron was selected as the First Sergeant of the Year.
